Finance Manager

Location: Reading
Salary: £50,000 per annum (pro rata if part-time)

About the Company:
An innovative and growing private healthcare business with a turnover of £2.5m is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead its finance function. The company is known for its exceptional customer care and offers a friendly and inclusive working environment.

The Role:
This is a hands-on Finance Manager role, ideal for a proactive individual who enjoys working across both the operational and strategic sides of finance. You will have ownership of the finance function and play a key role in supporting the company’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all day-to-day transactional finance activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking.
  • Managing month-end processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and the preparation of financial reports.
  • Leading the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and providing financial insights to support decision-making.
  • Conducting variance analysis to monitor performance against budget and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including external providers (e.g., private health insurers).
  • Developing and mentoring the Accounts Assistant to support their professional growth.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A later-stage studier (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or fully qualified accountant.
  • Proven experience in a small to medium-sized business environment, ideally with a broad finance remit.
  • Comfortable working hands-on, with the ability to step back and contribute to strategic financial planning.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships internally and externally.
